Sometimes customers ask for a Caterpillar TA1 or Caterpillar TA2 report.  A TA1 is more or less just a visual inspection of equipment and not very useful to evaluate the necessary repairs on a machine. For a TA2 report are several special tools needed. Hydraulic pressures will be measured and engine blow-by will be tested.
To be able to offer appraisal for a reasonable price we decided to level our inspections somewhere between a TA1 and TA2 report. We do not measure pressures but with all our five senses and a lot of experience we believe, we are able to find out most of the costly problems of equipment.
With pleasure we send you on request an example of an inspection report to learn more about things we examine.
Another question we often hear is, if we would take SOS-samples (scheduled oil samples). But this makes with Used Equipment often no sense. Only if the oil samples are taken regularly and you can see a tendency it will give information about remaining component life. When the oil is already used many hours above the schedule or when it has been renewed recently the SOS says nothing at all. But yes - on request we also take oil samples and sent them to analysis..
